This gallery of images of natural objects was inspired by Close at Hand, a book of simple "portraits" of botanical and other natural objects by Mariana Cook, a photographer whose work I admire. I played around with making digital pairings of negative and positive images, and enjoyed discovering how easily our perceptions can be fooled. These photos were made in fulfillment of an assignment in Adam Katseff's inspiring darkroom photo class at Stanford.
