Sometimes when I make a lumen print, I scan the exposed paper immediately after removing the specimen to rescue the latent image that is doomed to disappear almost instantly without chemical fixing. This pre-fixed image often displays a wildly different color palette from the post-fixed image, the permanent paper print. By scanning, I am able to preserve this otherwise evanescent image in digital form. Since it is digital, it becomes easily amenable to collaging and photomontage. These images have been processed to exaggerate color and symmetry, two aspects of floral beauty that appeal to me.
